Sea-blue apartment in Azure, Saadiyat Island

From the sofa you see Saadiyat beach and nothing else, so the interior takes its colours from that view: sand, driftwood and a deep sea blue.

The living room wall is panelled in walnut veneer and carries a group of pebble-shaped mirrors that throw daylight back into the room. Opposite, the TV sits in a travertine surround flanked by more walnut. Between the living and dining areas stands a glass display cabinet with brass framing, lit from inside.

The dining table is cut from pale stone on a faceted base, with eight blue velvet chairs and a cluster of opal glass pendants on brass rods above it. The long wall of the hallway is a run of concealed storage with thin brass inlays that doubles as a gallery for relief art in white and blue.

In the bedroom a panel of walnut slats meets a hand-painted wallcovering with flowing lines in sand and ink. The dressing table, the bedside drum and the low chest are all ribbed walnut with brass feet.
